Identical twins of different sexes?

Question:

I would be found to be pregnant with identical twins.
At first I was told that they will definitely be the same sex.
Yesterday I was informed that it would be a boy and a girl.
But that's not really possible, right?
Does it mean that I will definitely have a sick or disabled child?
Thank you so much.

Identical twins of different sexes?

Hello,

1. Under normal circumstances, identical twins will surely be of the same sex in well over 90% of all cases. Another situation is certainly an absolute rarity

2. If twins of different sex are recognized, it will usually not be a hurried twins

3. Our expert, Professor Dr. Hackeloer can provide further information in his forum.

But it works. But calls itself differently. There have been various articles in the last few weeks because they probably send it through the press as a sensation.

Answer to:

Identical twins of different sexes?

In rare cases, identical twins can be of different sexes. If the division is incomplete, the Y chromosome can be lost. The child without the Y chromosome then develops into a girl and then suffers from the consequences of Turner syndrome. I am not aware of any other cases.
However, I also think it's way too early to be in the 15. Week to determine the gender.
If I were you, I would ask the doctors questions.

Then calls itself a semi-identical twin.

Is really rare. But I would wait ..... Genders are too often wrongly determined in the US.

Identical twins of different sexes?

And no, not all of them have Turner Syndrome ...

An egg cell can also be fertilized by 2 sperm cells. Most therefore die promptly. But some just don't. The egg then divides completely and separates the two dissimilar bundles of chromosomes in order to ensure its survival. Then 2 perfectly healthy babies can develop.

Identical twins with different sexes?

Here is the article: http://www.spiegel.de/gesundheit/schwangerschaft/australien-halb-identische-zwillinge-entdeck-zweiter-fall-weltweit-a-1255527.html

However, I tend to think that the doctor is currently just not yet able to say for sure this or the sexes. Even before the 15th week of pregnancy, he is legally not allowed to do so. If you weren't told the genders about a blood test, I wouldn't see anything for sure from just a US.
