Fix: Astro A40 Mic does not work

  2. However, if you see green bars when speaking into the microphone but still not working in some programs, it means that the microphone is not configured correctly in Windows. It is possible that the program the wrong recording device is listening . Try changing the program settings.
  3. Check that you can determine which of the devices is in the list Yours is. If you have it identify, click Click on it to highlight it and then click the button default which is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Check again to see if you see green bars when speaking into the microphone. If you do this, your microphone is now set up correctly. If not, go to the next step.
  5. Double click on the device that represents your microphone. A new window will appear with the Microphone properties displayed . Choose the TabLevels at the top of the screen.
  6. Drag the Slider in the Layers tab all the way to the right until the number is on the right 100 indicates.

  2. Now double check that you see green bars when you speak into the microphone: if you do, your microphone is now configured correctly.
  3. If there are still no bars and you are not 100% sure which of the devices is the relevant one, follow steps 5-10 for each device in the list.
  4. If you still don't see any green bars , click with the left mouse button Go to the Recording tab and make sure that Show deactivated devices activated is. If not, click on it for it to be checked. This way we can see all disabled devices.

  1. This could add additional devices to the list. Follow steps 5-10 on these devices as well until you see the green bars when you speak into the microphone.

Solution 4: optimization of the application

Another thing to try before moving on to hardware alternatives is to make sure that the settings in the Astro application are set correctly. If you have an update regarding the firmware, make sure you update it ASAP. Updates are constantly being provided to address bug fixes and various other errors.

  1. Start the Astro application and click the Microphone tab.
  2. Make sure the USB Mic Level is set to the maximum value by moving the slider all the way to the right.

Solution 5: Buy a USB stereo adapter

There are several laptops that don't have two separate ports. One for the headphone input and one for the microphone output. Even if it doesn't, your audio jack may not work as expected. An easy solution is to buy a USB stereo adapter for your device. You can connect both the audio jack and the microphone jack to the adapter and connect the adapter to the USB port.
