Biography of John Cena

John Cena made his professional wrestling debut in 2002 on the show "SmackDown". His image was quickly clear: he played the "good guy" and packed his speeches in the ring - which usually try to give the opponent a few verbal blows before the actual fight - in rap verses. In wrestling, the outcome of a fight is more or less fixed in advance, but John Cena is still considered one of the most successful of his craft.

Born in Massachusetts in 1977, John Cena has always been an athlete: He played American football on his college team and after graduating in exercise physiology, he began a career as a bodybuilder. At that time, his job was already a little “breadless”. For example, he had to work as a chauffeur for a limousine company to earn a living. In 2000 he tried his hand at amateur wrestling and went on stage with his alter ego “The Prototype” - the character was a mixture of man and machine.

The fans loved it and with his physical presence he slowly worked his way from the small leagues to the professional WWE. Since his debut in 2002, he has won the WWE Champion title 16 times - a new record.

John Cena in the movie

John Cena can also book a few excursions into the film industry in his vita. In 2006 he starred in The Marine (with Kelly Carlson and Robert Patrick), which was panned by critics, but brought in enough money for further film projects. Since his cinema debut, he has also been cast for supporting roles in larger productions, for example in Dating Queen (2015; with Amy Schumer and Tilda Swinton) or in the two comedies too Daddy's Home (2015/17; with Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell).

Privately, John Cena got engaged to wrestling colleague Nikki Bella in April 2017. However, the wedding never took place, in March 2018 Bella announced the separation.
