How do I join an international member of the cafeteria?

The only criterion for cafeteria membership is an IQ score in the top 2% in a standardized, monitored IQ test. You can do this take a standardized cafeteria test or submit an IQ test result obtained elsewhere for recognition (online IQ tests are not recognized).

In addition to this criterion, there are a few other requirements to become a member of Mensa Switzerland:

  • You live in Switzerland or have Swiss citizenship.
  • You accept that your address will be visible to all members, just as their addresses will be visible to you.
  • You pay the annual membership fee (the association year begins on July 1st).

1. Take a cafeteria test

Mensa IQ tests are offered regularly in larger Swiss cities.

In the case of Mensa Schweiz used IQ tests (non-verbal and with a verbal part) are tests that were developed by psychologists and meet all scientific quality criteria.

The language-specific test with a German verbal partwe currently only offer in Zurich. It costs 100 Fr. (50 Fr. for students and pupils) and can 14 years and older be performed. 2. Submit an IQ test result for recognition

If you alreadya standardized and monitored intelligence test and have achieved a result in the top 2%, then you can submit your test result to us to clarify the recognition. Online tests and unsupervised tests are not accepted.

In order to save you unnecessary submissions, we provide here a list of unaccepted tests and important information regarding Wechsler intelligence tests is available.

For applicants at the time of the test not yet 10 years old the test is also allowed no longer than 4 years lag behind.

The Costs for the examination of the documents are 60 Fr. for adults (30 Fr. for students). It is free for children and young people under the age of 18. The name on the documents must match the name on the registration form. If this is not the case, a supplementary document must be prepared (a notarized copy of the marriage certificate, etc.).

Only complete applications are checked. All information is treated as strictly confidential. If your IQ test is recognized, you will receive a registration form for joining the Swiss canteen.

After receiving the required documents, these are checked by our head psychologist: Does the test meet the quality requirements of Mensa? Was it carried out properly? What IQ scale was used to communicate the result?This evaluation can take up to three weeks. The decision on recognition lies with the head psychologist.

6. Lost test result?

We keep all test results for 10 years. If your test is no longer than ten years is ago, you can still join without a new test, as we still have your result. If, on the other hand, your test was more than 10 years ago, you will unfortunately have to take the test again.
