Since Thor is also known for his disarming honesty, marriages and certified contracts are also blessed with his hammer (= hammer consecration - was / is actually used for everything, Liederedda, Thrymskvida 30). In Midgard he oversees all council meetings (Thing) and legal transactions. He is considered the warmest and kindest god and is therefore also god of the oppressed and of travelers. Thor was de r only god who was not allowed to enter Asgard over the rainbow bridge Bifröst, because it was fructified that his steps, which echoed like thunder, could destroy the bridge. He is considered the son of Oðinn and Jörd, the personified earth.

Valer
Rune / s:
wunjo, laguz
Ase
(Balder) is the god of light and truth. He was the son of Odin and Frigga. He was considered the prettiest of the sir. His dexterity with the runes and his vast knowledge of medicinal herbs made him a very popular deity in the times when Midgard was struck by disease. His twin brother is Hödr, the blind man. Baldr was loved above all by his mother Frigga, which is why she took the oath of all things not to harm her son. Only the mistletoe was so inconspicuous that it was forgotten. Nothing could hurt Baldr and the gods made fun of testing all kinds of weapons on Baldr, but nothing could hurt him. Loki, meanwhile, swore that he would find a way to harm Baldr after all, and through a trick he found out about the mistletoe. He cut a spear out of the wood and gave it to the blind brother, who threw the weapon and hit Baldr in the chest. So the god of light and truth died and the nine worlds moved a little closer to Ragnarök. Baldr will return from Hel to Ragnarök.

He is also known under the names Irmin, Tiu, Tiuz, Tiwaz, Ziu or Saxnot (for the things) and Things (for the Frisians). He is the god of war, but also of peace. It stands for victory, courage and bravery, as well as for honesty, justice and truth. Like Thor, he is also considered the god of representation and justice. He also had to share the latter task with Forseti.

Bragi

(Braggi) is the god of poetry, bards and skalds. The art of skalds is also called Bragur after him. He is the son of Odin and a giantess, his wife is Idun with the golden apples. According to legend, the runes are written on his tongue. Bragi appears very late in mythology and there are two possible origins. 1. He is an emanation of Odin, first his thulr, his minstrel, then his son. 2. The skald Bragi Boddason, raised to the rank of god by his students, who was the first verifiable court calde in Norway in the 9th century (see R.M. Meyer, Old Germanic Religious History, page 385 and Germanic Gods, Diederichs-Verlag, page 212).

Heimdall
Rune / s:

Ase

It needs less sleep than a bird, can see very far in the dark, and hears the grass and the fur of the sheep growing for miles around in the vicinity. When the twilight falls, Heimdall blows his horn Gjallar to warn Asgard and Midgard. The name Hallinskiði is also used as a name for “ram”, which is why the ram is assigned to this god (also as a sacrificial animal) (Simek, Lexicon of Germanic Mythology, page 171). Heimdall is also the god of knowledge and is considered one of the few rune masters (Liederedda, Rigsmal 42).

Hödr
Rune / s:
Ase
is the god of darkness and sin, son of Odin and Frigga, twin brother of Baldr and his deathbringer, but not his real murderer, because this is Loki. Loki is to blame for the death of Baldr through his deceit and was banished from Asgard until the Twilight of the Gods (Ragnarök, the last world battle). Loki is considered to be the smartest of the gods and his beauty is widely praised.

The 13 asins (plus 2 more)
(Prosaedda, Gylfaginning 35 and 36)

Frigg
Rune / s:
Asin
(Frigga) is the earth goddess, also known under the name Nerthus (great mother, wise goddess). She exercises the supreme supervision of Asgard (seat of the gods). She brings life, it returns to her. She knows the fate of all people, but she does not prophesy it to anyone. The name means beloved, wife, "the one who carries". The mythologists still argue whether the goddess Freyja is related to Frigg, or whether it is part of the same. Partial aspects of the Frigg / Frick are probably Berchta (white woman), also known as "Frau Holle" (Holda, Holde, Hula or Hulda), the healer Eir, the secretive Fulla, the virginal Gefjon, the mild Hlin and the wise Saga.

saga
Rune / s:
Asin
lives with Odin in Säkkvabekkr, their silver palace. Goddess of springs and waters, goddess of women and the house, goddess of history (saga - saga = "comprehensive knowledge" wink. She preserves the heroes and deeds in her songs. Odin comes to her every day to bathe and arrive to refresh their sources - probably not an independent goddess, but part of the Frigg.

Eir
Rune / s:
Asin
is the goddess of healing and mercy. Eir means "the one who heals", "the best doctor" or "caring" (eir = help, grace). She sat on Mount Lyfjaberg (healing) and granted health to every woman who came up to her. Probably a part of the Frigg.

Gefjon
Rune / s:
Asin
It is difficult to judge whether the Norse giantess and the virgin goddess of the same name are identical. The former prison was a rogue. She managed to get as much land promised as four oxen could plow in a day. They plowed away part of Sweden and dragged it south, where it became the island of "Zealand". That is why she is considered the protector of plowing farmers in Denmark.
The other prison sold her hymen for a gem, but miraculously kept her virginity. She was a servant of Frigg and possibly an expression of this goddess as the "generous giver" and the one who brings good luck. It is said that all women who die as virgins pass into Gefjon's possession.

Fulla
Rune / s:
Asin
(Volla) means "abundance". Embodies the abundance of the fertile earth. She is the servant of Frigg and probably another expression of this great goddess, namely the one who carried the chest in which Frigg kept her treasures.

Freyja
Rune / s:
gebo, raido, kenaz, berkano, ehwaz, dagaz
Wanin
is the goddess of love, queen of the Valkyries, goddess of the moon, mistress of death, goddess of magic, "the spirit of the fertility of the earth". She was allowed to choose the first half of the fallen on the battlefields and move them into her palace. It is identical to the South Germanic Ostara. The name means woman. It is also known under the names Freia, Frija or Gefn. [Etymologically questionable is the connection or equation with Ostara = namesake for Easter, with which the newly awakening fertility of the earth and the bodies was originally celebrated, with a very obvious custom that is still alive today: painting and giving away Eggs as a spring greeting. The home of the Ostara cult appears to have been England. The oldest evidence of the worship of Eostra as the goddess of the sun that rises again in spring comes from there. Ostara is the patron saint of Austria, as her name is in the ancient Germanic “Auströ” (cf. Lexicon of Germanic Mythology by Simek, page 325).]

Siöfn
Rune / n

Lofn
Rune / s:

Var
Rune / s:

(Wara) goddess of love (aspect of Freyja), watches over the contracts and oaths between bride and groom and also takes care of keeping the promises of unmarried lovers. She took grim revenge on anyone who broke such vows. As an aspect of the omniscient earth (Frigg), Var saw and heard everything and nothing remains hidden from her. Her name means "pledge of loyalty".

Syn
Rune / s:
Asin
is the gatekeeper of heaven (of the house). Her name means "denial", which she denied entry to Asgard to anyone she considered unworthy. All-knowing and perfectly righteous (aspects of the Frigg), Syn was also the goddess on whom oaths were sworn and who were asked before court proceedings that justice should prevail.

Hlin
Rune / s:
Asin
is the goddess of virtue, modesty and wisdom. She is smart and knows how to behave. She protects all virtuous. Her name means "the clever one".

Snotra
Rune / s:

Gna
Rune / s:

Sol
Rune / s:
anyway, raido
(Sunna, Sunnu) is the goddess of victory, the "imperative" sun. She was the "elf ray" or the "deceiver of the dwarfs" because those creatures were petrified by their shine.

Bil
Rune / s:

Sif

Asin
is the goddess of growth, wife of Thor, is also called Kornfrau, or Kornrnuhme. Your hair is like the ripe grain. She is also an aspect of the earth goddess (Frigg).

Skadi
Rune / s:
Asin
is the goddess of the hunt and winter. She is first the wife of the sea god Njördr. But since it is impossible to live with him, she looks for a new husband, the god Ullr. Her name means magpie. The word "Scandinavia" is derived from it. In the myths she embodies an aspect of the earth goddess (Frigg).

Idun
Rune / s:
(Idunn) is the goddess of youth. From her the gods receive the apples of eternal youth to compensate for their mortality. She is married to Bragi.

is the wife of Frey and is therefore accepted into the circle of the Aesir.

Hel
Rune / s:
berkano
is the ruler of the shadow world under the earth. Her name means "the one who twitches" or "the one who hides" and from her comes the word "hell". All those who had died of old age or illness entered her kingdom. Those who perished in heroic combat or other acts of violence were carried away by the Valkyries to the heavenly halls of Freyja and Odin. Hel was the daughter of Loki and the giantess "Angrboda". It was half white and half black. Her palace was called "Freezing Cold", where she ate from a plate called "Hunger" with cutlery called "Famine". She was served by the slave "senility" and her maid "old age". She slept on her bed "sick camp", covered by curtains called "pitifully pale". The concept of Hel is probably the oldest part of the Nordic pantheon and is believed to be as old as the custom of burial itself.

The Norns
Rune / s:
all !!
(nornir) they determined the fate of gods and men. They have an obstetric function (just like the Disen, who are also obstetricians). Your job is to make the fateful verdict at birth. It means that everyone has their own norns. Hence there are innumerable Norns. The three most important and well-known are, however, Urd (fate), the Norn of the past, Verdandi (Becoming), the Norn of the present and Skuld (guilt), the Norn of the future

The Alven
Rune / s:

The Disen
Rune / s:
(disir) are a collective term for all female goddesses. Disen was also understood to mean a group of goddesses of fate that is difficult to determine, comparable to the Norns. They specifically determined the spiritual gifts and weaknesses of each person. That is why they were sacrificed to them at 2 festivals a year, the Disablot (around the beginning of February, today on February 2nd and for the Vintrnatsblot, today for the night between Nov. 31 and Oct. 1) with food and drink, pronounced feasts, singing and tell stories - they were allowed to participate in life.

The Valkyries
